REOPENING OF MEMOGATE CASE A SHEER EXAMPLE OF DISCRIMINATION: DR EHSAN, QASIM RAZA

“Mr. Haqqani hails from middle class but still he diligently served the country and his capabilities as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States.” “His services are a candid clear manifest of his outstanding services for the country.”

“The Co-Chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party Mr. Asif Ali Zardari and his government was the main accused in the Memogate case.” It is imperative to meet the standard of the justice that he should first be summoned in the court for clearing his position and necessary investigations should also be conducted on the Memogate scam, which is missing

LONDON. February 9, 2018: MQM’s Coordination Committee Convener Dr Nadeem Ehsan and Deputy Convener Mr. Qasim Ali Raza have said that reopening of the Memogate case with sole intention of targeting just one accused, Mr. Hussain Haqqani the ex-Ambassador to the United States of America while ignoring all other accused in the case is a sheer manifest of discrimination.

In their joint statement, they said that it is quite astonishing that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has reopened the six-year old case, which the judiciary had buried itself while the fact is that no criminal case against Mr. Haqqani is yet registered, which bars any sort of action against him abroad.

Dr Ehsan and Mr. Raza said that, “The Co-Chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party Mr. Asif Ali Zardari and his government was the main accused in the Memogate case.” It is imperative to meet the standard of the justice that he should first be summoned in the court for clearing his position and necessary investigations should also be conducted on the Memogate scam, which is missing.

The Convener and the Deputy Convener are of the opinion that since Mr. Haqqani hails from lower middle Mohajir class and hence he is being made scapegoat in the scam. It should be in line of justice that as Mr. Haqqani had earlier claimed that the accusations were pack of lies so Mr. Nawaz Sharif the dismissed ex-Prime Minister should be summoned and asked to explain as why he created hype of the Memogate scam.

They said that despite that, “Mr. Haqqani hails from middle class but still he diligently served the country and his capabilities as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States.” “His services are a candid clear manifest of his outstanding services for the country.”

Dr Ehsan ad Mr. Raza said that steps are being taken in the country in absolute contrast to the law of the country. A brilliant Pakistani philosopher, a thinker and a devoted teacher was assassinated in custody of the security forces, Mohajir youth and MQM activists are facing arbitrary arrest without lawful charge and enforced disappearances but sorry to say that the SC does not have time to look at these injustices and play its role for the control and redressal of the injustices. Conversely, a student Mishal Khan was assassinated in day light and those recently acquitted in his murder case belonging to radical Jamaat-e Islami are openly asserting to repeat similar murders. Again, no notice has so far been taken against them but a six year old bogus Memogate case has been reopened and its reopening is tantamount to mocking at the principals of the justice.

They appealed to the Chief Justice of the SC to review his stance and meet the criteria of the justice for all.
