SHAHEED-E WAFA PROF. ARIF’S DAUGHTER’S STATEMENT A RESULT OF HEAVY PRESSURE FROM POLICE: QASIM ALI RAZA
“National and international media, TV anchorpersons and rights organisations have rejected Police’s claim of his death due to cardiac arrest and as natural.”
LONDON. January 17, 2018: Muttahidda Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) International Secretariat In-charge Mr. Qasim Ali Raza while commenting on a media statement of Sheherzadey Arif, who is daughter of MQM’s slain leader Shaheed-e Wafa Prof. Dr Hassan Zafar Arif, said the statement was the result of tremendous duress she had from Pakistan’s security and intelligence forces and Police.
In his statement, he said that as slain Prof. Arif’s aggrieved family reached the hospital to see his body, Police had forced his spouse, daughter and son to go with them towards an undisclosed location where they were heavily pressurised for a dictated statement and today, his daughter Sheherzadey Arif gave a statement to media that her father had died of cardiac arrest. She also stated under pressure that blood stains on his face were also mysterious. It is candid clear that she stated what she was pressurised for.
He questioned in case Prof. Arif had died of cardiac arrest then what about torture signs on his head and what was the cause of bleeding from his head. What about those signs of torture on his body?
Mr. Raza also said that Prof. Arif never used to visit Ibrahim Hyderi often and on the day he was kidnapped and taken to Ibrahim Hyderi, he left his office located at Saddar and before leaving his office, he had informed his colleagues that he was home bound. His snaps taken after his death are enough to prove he was first kidnapped and then tortured to death.
He said that, “National and international media, TV anchorpersons and rights organisations have rejected Police’s claim of his death due to cardiac arrest and as natural.”
He said what worst example of tyranny could now be imposed after executing Prof. Arif in custody and then forcing his aggrieved family to accept and state a dictated lie that he died of natural cause. Pressurising his family is a highly condemnable tactic so that the actual course of investigations on his custodial death could be changed to save the killers.
Mr. Raza appealed to the chief Justice to take notice of pressure tactics by the authorities concerned on the aggrieve family of Prof. Arif and take every step to dispense justice.
He also appealed to human rights organisations to raise this issue for the sake of justice.
