MQM Urges United States to Intervene to Stop Oppression & Genocide upon Mohajirs

Demonstration Held in front of White House against State Atrocities & Persecution of Mohajirs in Pakistan

Saturday,December 16th, 2017 - 

Communication and Media Cell, Washington, D.C.| Large number of worker sand supporters of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), the 4th largest political party in Pakistan, gathered at White House on the seconds day of ongoing series of demonstrations, to protest against state atrocities upon Mohajirs.

The demonstration was attended by MQM’s Coordination Committee Members, Shahid Mustafa and Rukun uddin Taj, along with Central Organizer of MQM USA, Rehan Ibadat, Joint Organizers, members of Central Organizing Committee (COC), office bearers, workers from 22 chapters across United States, along with large numbers of supporters including ladies, elders and youth. 

Speaking to the local and international media, Central Organizer Rehan Ibadat said that state of Pakistan has failed to upheld and provide justice to 70 million Mohajirs residing in Karachi and urban Sindh, as well as failed in its commitment toglobal peace. He went on to iterate that Mohajirs are the key to peace,stability and security of the South Asia region, and unconditional support U.S.foreign policy in combatting extremism and terrorism in the region. Furthermore,he added that Pakistan’s financial hub, Karachi has been surrounded by Taliban’s and could fall into the hands of extremist forces. We urge U.S. State Department and elected officials to come forward and address the grievances of Muhajir Nation, in ensuring that democracy in the light of political stability continues, and the nation does not become a safe haven for terror and banded outfits.

In addressing the attendees, Joint Organizer Adnan Naqvi went on to state that Pakistan’s notorious spy agency, Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) has been a key factor in destabilizing the region by promoting extremism and terrorism. Mohajirs are looking forward to strategic support and help of International Community to safeguard nation’s economic, political and social interests.

The demonstrators held banners and placards urging the State of Pakistan to uphold the basic principles of Freedom of Speech, and to allow citizens to live their lives as per there free will. Furthermore, they shed light on one of the worst forms of human rights violations, enforced disappearances, extra judicial killings, inhumane torture, ban on political and social activities of MQM, media blackout of MQM’s founder and leader Mr. Altaf Hussain.

Speaking to the local and international media, MQM’s Coordination committee members demanded that MQM must be given its due space in the political spectrum, so the citizens have an adequate chance to select those who truly represent them and their interests. Furthermore, they demanded all sealed MQM properties,including its Head Quarter, Nine Zero is reopened.

On this occasion office bearers of MQM USA submitted a memorandum with the demands listed above was to the White House. The demonstrators vowed to continue raising their voices till justice is sought in Pakistan, and perpetrators of such deliberate Human Rights Violations are brought to justice.

Lastly,the founder and leader of MQM, Mr. Altaf Hussain addressed the participants outside the White House, in which workers and supporters gathered around to listen to their beloved leader. Mr. Hussain went on to thank all of the attendees, who gathered from all around the United States, in below freezing temperature to fight the case of Muhajir nation.
