MQM TO OBSERVE “MARTYRS DAY” ON DEC 9 WITH GREAT FERVOUR

It is right of the families of the martyrs to visit the graves of their beloved ones; offer prayers for the departed souls at their graves hold them high in esteem and pay homage. Therefore, MQM expects that the families would not be deprived them of this basic right.

LONDON. November 28, 2017:  A meeting of Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) was held at its international secretariat here in London, chaired by MQM Coordination Committee Convener Mr. Nadeem Nusrat. The meeting deliberated upon prevailing overall political and organizational situation in Pakistan. The meeting paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the movement and decided that Yaum-e Shohada (Martyrs Day) would be observed on Saturday, December 9, 2017 with great fervour. On the day of observation of Martyrs Day, Families of the martyrs of the movement, and families of unlawfully detained and jailed and those kidnapped and enforced to disappear by the security forces of the country would pay a visit to the Martyrs Monument situated in Azizabad in Karachi adjacent to MQM headquarters Nine Zero and would pay salutations and tribute to the martyrs, offer prayers and hold sessions of recitation of the Holy Quran. These families would lay floral wreath on to the graves of the martyrs of the movement at Yasinabad graveyard. Similarly, same events would also be organized on December 9 in Hyderabad, the second largest Mohajir dominated city of Sindh province. Sessions of recitation of the Holy Quran would also be held in all other cities and towns in Pakistan and all over the world.

Addressing the meeting, the MQM Coordination Committee Convener Mr. Nusrat said that MQM activities to be organised on December 9 would not be of political nature nor there would be any public gathering but these would solely mean to pay homage and hold in high esteem the martyrs of the movement who laid their lives for the rights of the oppressed Mohajir Nation.

Pakistan’s military had observed patience during worst lawlessness by the protesters of the sit-in at Faizabad in Islamabad and stressed the government to also show leniency and avoid any action, the military should make a manifest of the same spirit and would observe patience on December 9 on Martyrs Day activities at the martyrs Monument in Azizabad, hoped Mr. Nusrat.

He added that the paramilitary Rangers, Police and all wings of Pakistan’s military would not create hurdles to the families of the martyrs of the movement so that they could visit the venue and pay homage to their beloved ones.

He said, “Pakistan’s military should on the pattern of loveable treatment to the protesters of the sit-in at Faizabad not charge against the peaceful Mohajirs and would also treat them as our own people as were the protesters of Faizabad were held.”

Mr. Nusrat said that it is right of the families of the martyrs to visit the graves of their beloved ones; offer prayers for the departed souls at their graves hold them high in esteem and pay homage. Therefore, MQM expects that the families would not be deprived them of this basic right.

Meanwhile, Father of the Mohajir Nation and leader of the movement Mr. Altaf Hussain has endorsed the decision of the meeting of the Coordination Committee.
