MQM STAGES PROTEST AT PAKISTAN HIGH COMMISSION ON STATE REPRESSION, ENGINEERED CENSUS
Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) under the aegis of MQM United Kingdom staged a protest in front of Pakistan High Commission here in London on Sunday. Flawed and engineered Census results, which deliberately showed minimum Mohajir population in Karachi and in other parts of Sindh province, arbitrary arrests of MQM workers, relatives of MQM office-bearers in Pakistan and in London, enforced disappearances of MQM workers as a result of kidnappings by security forces, repression and atrocities and depriving Mohajir Nation of their rights constituted the basis of the protest.
MQM Coordination Committee members, MQM UK Central Organising Committee members, Mohajir men, women and youth participated in the protest in large number.
The protestors held placards in their hands, which carried mentioning of the atrocities on Mohajirs in Pakistan, state repression, conspiracy of decreasing Mohajir population in Karachi and other parts of Sindh provinces through engineered Census held this current year, genocide of Mohajir Nation, enforced disappearances and kidnappings of MQM workers, human right violations, custodial deaths and extrajudicial killings of MQM workers and Mohajir youth by the security forces of Pakistan, etc;
The protestors also held party colours, portraits of their beloved Father of Mohajir Nation Mr. Altaf Hussain. They also chanted slogans in which they rejected Census, demanded end to genocide of Mohajirs and justice.
The protest had also on the occasions attracted a good number of tourists who enquired them about the reason of their protest. The protestors were briefed about the state atrocities, kidnappings, custodial deaths and enforced disappearances of MQM workers in Pakistan on which many noted the details and shared their sympathy with affected Mohajir Nation.
MQM founding leader and father of Mohajir Nation addressed the protestors over telephone and categorically asserted that the Census results were unacceptable and hence the MQM rejects the results.
On that occasion, MQM Coordination Committee members and MQM UK Unit office-bearers delivered a petition to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi through Pakistan High Commission. In the petition, MQM mentioned its deep concern over conspiracy of decreasing population of Mohajirs by almost 50 percent, which they mentioned was not new as all previous Censuses were similarly manipulated against Mohajir Nation. The petition also mentioned that the fresh Census held in 2017 also showed as 14.9 million while the population of Karachi is more than 30 million. Same is done to Mohajir population of other cities of Sindh province.
In the petition, MQM laid its demand to cancel Census results-2017 and should be held under the auspices of the United Nations.
MQM founding leader Mr. Hussain has also in the petition condemned Pakistani military establishment for their open life threats to him and demanded for immediate notice of such threats.
