Security forces have killed MQM worker Furqan Iqbal in custody: MQM Convener
“MQM worker Furqan Iqbal was missing for past many days as security force kidnapped and tortured him to death – Military Operation going on in Karachi is meant for eliminating Mohajirs – Chief Justice should take suo motto on custodial deaths and take the personnel involved to task”
Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Convener Nadeem Nusrat has strongly condemned the Paramilitary Rangers for custodial murder of one of MQM workers. The extra-judicially assassinated MQM worker Furqan Iqbal was associated to MQM through Unit 68, U.C. 25 of Gulshan-e Iqbal Sector and he had also served as member Unit Committee of MQM. He had gone missing for past many days and according to reliable sources, he was kidnapped by the paramilitary Rangers and was subjected to vehement torture and having been gravely wounded internally and externally, he succumbed to his injuries.
He said that since the launch of deadliest military actions against MQM and Mohajirs since 2013, Police and paramilitary Rangers have so far killed more than 73 MQM workers in custody or extra-judicially. Custodial assassination of Iqbal stands on number 74. Thus, the military action in Karachi has been changed into Mohajir genocidal operation by the military establishment and the sole purpose behind this unchecked deadliest military operation against MQM and Mohajirs is to eliminate Mohajirs from Karachi in particular and from Pakistan in general. In order to meet the desired goals, the security forces are bent upon killing Mohajirs one after another, detaining them without lawful charge and applying the entire worst torturing tactic to make them change their loyalty and join anti-Mohajir factions comprising criminals. The darkest aspect of this whole injustice is that neither the governments nor the courts are feeling they are responsible for protection of the innocent Mohajirs.
The MQM Convener Nusrat appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motto on custodial assassination of Furqan Iqbal, a worker of MQM and bring the killer personnel of the security forces to task and play their role for bringing an end to the deadliest military operation against Mohajirs.
He extended condolences on behalf of MQM founder leader Mr. Altaf Hussain, coordination Committee and each single worker to the aggrieved family and prayed for the departed soul.
