Altaf Hussain sends letters of condolence to UK PM and Manchester Mayor
Expresses his deep sorrow and shock at callous act of suicide bombing in Manchester
MQM founder and leader Altaf Hussain has expressed deep sorrow and shock over mindless and callous act of terrorism at Manchester Arena, UK, that has taken the lives of at least 22 innocent people and injured many more. In his personal letters to the British Prime Minister Theresa May, UK Home Secretary Amber Ruud and the City Mayor of Manchester, MQM founder and leader said that “those who lost their lives, their families and friends have our deepest sympathies. We pray to God for the speedy recovery of those who were injured.”
“On behalf of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), Pakistan’s 3rd largest political party, and my millions of followers worldwide, I would like to condemn this brutal and senseless attack in the strongest terms which took place on 22nd May 2017, killing at least twenty two people and injuring dozens at Manchester Arena which was carried out by suicide bomber”, Mr Hussain added.
“Few could understand better than us the pain and grief caused by this mindless attack. My party MQM, the most liberal and secular political party in Pakistan, represents those Mohajirs (immigrants) who migrated from India to Pakistan after the partition of Indian subcontinent in 1947.”
“Pakistan’s powerful security establishment which has blatantly supported religious extremists since the creation of Pakistan has also denied fundamental rights to Mohajirs. The enforced disappearances and extra judicial killings of MQM workers are a daily occurrence in Pakistan.”
“Thousands of MQM members are languishing in prison on false charges, over 20,000 Mohajirs have been killed by the state security forces and their sponsored Jihadists in the last few years alone. Economical and educational suppression and physical genocide of Mohajirs continues till date.”
Despite these acts of repression and injustice, Altaf Hussain concluded, “our struggle against terrorism and for equality and religious tolerance continues. We stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with the British people during this moment of grief.”
