CJ should take suo motto notice for safe recovery of MQM workers under enforced disappearances: Wasay Jalil

Muttahidda Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Coordination Committee member Wasay Jalil has appealed to the Chief justice of Pakistan justice Saquib Nisar for taking steps on priority for the safe recovery of MQM workers who were kidnapped and enforced to disappear.
In his statement issued here in London, he said that the security forces have so far arrested more than 150 MQM workers. Since the onset of military operation against MQM, all workers so far arrested by the paramilitary Rangers have never been produced in any court of law and are in unlawful detention of the Paramilitary Rangers. The families of those arrested workers are in dark as the paramilitary Rangers and government authorities are refusing to share any information about the arrested workers.
Jalil said that the paramilitary Rangers have arrested Federal B Area’s Town in-charge Farhan Hashmi, APMSO Secretary General Ahmed Ali Baig, Haq Parast Union Council Chairman Muhammad Farooque and many others and have failed to produce them in any court of law. The paramilitary Rangers are inflicting vehement physical and mental torture on the arrested MQM workers for their change of loyalty and consent to joining the army-created PSP group. In past, the paramilitary Rangers had also forced hundreds of MQM workers to join PSP under threats for lives and when those MQM workers found no way out to remain safe from Rangers brutalities, they had under compulsion consented to join the PSP and then they were taken to PSP office and released them after handing them over to PSP.
The case of missing workers of MQM is entirely sensitive and as the CJ has taken the suo motto notices on variety of issues, he should also pay attention to the MQM workers under enforced disappearances.
He appealed to the CJ to take immediate suo motto notice so that the missing workers of MQM may safely be returned to their homes and justice be done to them and their families.
