Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) observed the 5th anniversary of the 12th May Tragedy for commemorating the memory of the innocent people martyred on the day. Gatherings were held at the provincial, districts and tehsil offices of the MQM for offering fateha and recitation of the Holy Quran for the souls of the people killed on the fateful day.
The main gathering was held in Lal Qila Ground Azizabad, Karachi near Nine Zero. Deputy Conveners of the Co-ordination Committee Anis Ahmed Qaimkhani, Senator Mrs Nasrin Jalil and members Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, Kunwar Khalid Yunus, Shahid Latif, Jawed Kazmi, Wasay Jalil, Gulfaraz Khan Khattak, and elected representatives of the MQM were present on the occasion.
A large number of MQM workers and office-bearers of different wings and sympathizers were also present. Rich tributes were paid to the martyrs of 12th May. Fateha was recited by Maulana Feroze Rehmani and special prayers were offered for the 14 MQM workers martyred on 12th May and for the long life and good health of the MQM founder and leader Mr Altaf Hussain.
Similar gatherings were held in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Sanghar, Tando Allahyar, Ghotki, Umerkot, Jamshoro, Thatta, Naushahro Feroze, Badin, Larkana, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Dadu, Qambar, Shahdadkot, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala, Azad Kashmir, Rawalakot, Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Abbottabad, Haripur and Gilgit-Baltistan. Local workers and office-bearers attended the gatherings along with sympathizers.
