The Coordination Committee strongly condemned the arbitrary arrests of MQM workers and supporters from Landhi, Lines Area and Orangi Town by the Rangers and plain-clothed personnel.
In a statement, the Coordination Committee the arrests of innocent political workers are posted a big question mark for ongoing Karachi-operation. It said that the Rangers and plain-clothed personnel arrested two workers of MQM Landhi Usman and Muhammad Danish, a worker from Lines Area Yameen and four workers and office-bearers of Orangi Town Shahnawaz, Majid, Jahangir and Muhammad Sabir from their residences.
The Committee said that the arrested political workers were transferred into some unknown places and their families were not properly entertained. It said that some elements accused MQM for creating law and order situation but despite ongoing operation since 2013 the peace still seemed far away from Karachi.
The Coordination Committee demanded the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take notice against such activism from the Rangers and police and should ensure to stop political victimization. It said that such pressure tactics could not shatter the determinations and dedications of MQM workers and supporters.
