PAKISTANI CREWMEN WOULD SOON BE REUNITED WITH THEIR FAMILIES: ALTAF HUSSAIN

ALTAF HUSSAIN’S CONVERSATION WITH THE FAMILY MEMBERS OF PAKISTANI CREWMEN ON MV ALBEDO IN GOVERNOR HOUSE, KARACHI

KARACHI: 15TH MAY 2012

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has assured the family members of the Pakistani crewmen of MV Albedo that they would be united with their loved-ones soon as the efforts for securing their release are in full swing. He was talking to the family members of the Pakistani crewmen in the Governor House in Karachi on Tuesday night.

Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, Chief of the Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) Mr Ahmed Chinoy and noted human rights activist Mr Ansar Burney were also present on the occasion.

Mr Hussain said that he had asked President Asif Zardari to accelerate the efforts for the release of the Pakistani crewmen on MV Albedo. He said that he had also asked Governor Sindh Dr Ebad and CPLC chief Mr Chinoy to speed up the efforts in this regard. He said the difficult times were about to end and the families would be reunited with their loved-ones soon.

The family members talked to Mr Hussain and they were overwhelmed with emotions and feelings. Wife of Mr Jawed, captain of the hijacked ship, said that Governor Sindh and Mr Chinoy were making every possible effort for bringing back the captives from the custody of the Somali pirates. She said that she did not have the words to thank adequately.

Mishal, daughter of captain Jawed, also expressed her feelings and prayed for Mr Hussain and his fellows.

Ms Neelum Mujtaba, wife of chief officer of the ship Mr Mujtaba said that she had arrived all the way from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and was confident that only Mr Hussain and Governor Ebad could help her. She also thanked Mr Chinoy for his cooperation.

Mother of Ahsan Ali, hailing from Jehlum, told Mr Hussain that she got hope after meeting Governor Ebad and Ahmed Chinoy.

Mr Hussain said that there was no need of expressing gratitude and thanks as everything was being done on humanitarian grounds. He said that it was our mission to serve the humanity as enjoined by Almighty Allah. He said that he had always emphasized upon Governor Ebad to help the people instead of resting in the governor house.

Mr Hussain commended Mr Burney and Mr Chinoy for their efforts in securing the release of the captives on MV Albedo.
