MQM stages sit-in at Mazar-e-Quaid

KARACHI, 12-05-2016:
The Muttahida Quami Movement staged a sit-in at Mazar-e-Quaid to protest to arrest murderers of MQM workers, recovery of disappeared persons, and release of political detainees, and to show solidarity with the bereaved families of the victims.

The protestors visited Mazar-e-Quaid at 2 PM and then recited holy Quran for high eternal ranks to the party martyrs, recovery of disappeared persons and release of detainees. The protestors held banners, placards demanding COAS General Raheel Sharif to provide justice to Aftab Ahmed’s family, and they also showed portraits of MQM Chief Mr. Altaf Hussain.

They lit the candles in the memories of party martyrs, especially Aftab Ahmed who was extra-judicially killed in Rangers custody. They demanded their loved ones back and said that if the sons of Salman Taseer and former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani could come home than why could MQM workers not come home even they were under country’s LEAs’ custody.

Talking on the occasion, Senior Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar said Altaf Hussain is the only redeemer of the nation and will continue guiding us through such a hard time. He said Pakistan will one day reach to its destination and its people will also get their fundamental rights.

He said that MQM had to bear at least 60 extra-judicial killings of its workers and nearly 135 forceful disappearances to maintain peace in Karachi. He said that MQM demanded the operation and had to face some bitter consequences of that operation even misuse of authority.

Dr Farooq Sattar said that the peace indeed favored mostly MQM because it was the biggest stake holder of the city. He said that they were the assets for Pakistan’s safety and integrity but the government and establishment could not sense it. He said that the LG rights of Karachiites were already seized then the elected-mayor of the city would do nothing but to shepherding.

He said that the peaceful sit-in was staged to ensure the supremacy of the Constitution of Pakistan and to eliminate the discriminations with the people and their rights. He said that being main stakeholder of the city MQM also afflicted by some serious unconstitutional misconducts.

The Senior Deputy Convener said that MQM showed patience despite all such discriminations because the peace of the city could ease the lives of Karachiites and they were the beneficiaries. He said that the commoners also participated in today’s sit-in to ensure peace would prevail for long.

He said that MQM Chief Mr. Altaf Hussain was ban on media which was sheer violation of Article-19 of the Constitution letting people free to express their views. He said that MQM Chief took all the discrepancies to bring peace in Karachi even his innocent workers were extra-judicially killed and arbitrarily arrested.

He said that the law enforcement agencies should look after the Haqiqi terrorists’ activities in Landhi and Lines Area where they had been openly executing their heinous crimes and terror activities. He said that such brutality should be stopped immediately and the terrorists should be arrested.
