The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement filed an adjourning motion in the Senate over the extra-judicial killing of Dr Farooq Sattar’s Coordinator Aftab Ahmed in Rangers’ custody.
In a statement, the Coordination Committee said that the motion was filed by the Parliamentary Leader in Senate Colonel (retd) Syed Tahir Mashhadi. The motion elaborated the killing circumstances of unfortunate Aftab Ahmed that at time of death the deceased had nearly 40 fatal wounds on the body.
It also said that more 56 MQM’s workers were extra-judicially killed in the law enforcement agencies’ custody since Karachi-operation was started in 2013. It also demanded to stop such brutality with innocent political workers and should observe the law properly.
The motion also discussed the issue of forcefully disappeared persons and demanded to immediately recover or release them. It said that all the evidences about their arrests and disappearances were shared with the concerned authorities including the Supreme Court, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, IG Sindh and others.
