MQM announces day of mourning on extra-judicial killing

The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement announced the day of mourning on 04th May, 2016 (Wednesday) over the extra-judicial killing of MQM worker Aftab Ahmed in Rangers custody.

In a statement, the Coordination Committee decided in a joint session of London and Karachi and MQM Chief Mr. AltafHussain endorsed the decision that a day of mourning would be observed on Wednesday to protest against the brutality of the Rangers. It said that the black flags would be flown in Karachi and all over Pakistan.

The Committee said that Aftab’s funeral prayers in absence would be performed all zones and regions while rituals were also been observed for the deceased ablution. It was said in a meeting that at least 56 workers, including Aftab Ahmed were murdered in extra-judicial killings by the law enforcement agencies for the last three years of operation.

The Coordination Committee appealed people to actively participate in the day of mourning and registered their protest against such brutalities. It also demanded the President MumnoonHussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister ChaudhryNisar Ali Khan, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take serious action against the culprits and brought them before the court.

The Committee expressed its heartfelt sorrow and grief with the family of unfortunate Aftab Ahmed over the loss and urged them to show courage because Allah would not drain innocent blood. It also prayed Almighty Allah to confer the demise high eternal rank and give patience to the bereaved family.
