Martyrdom of 7 cops during security of anti-polio volunteers: MQM demands for reviewing of ongoing targeted operation’s direction
 Posted on: 4/20/2016
The martyrdom of cops in Bangla Bazar in Orangi Town is an open act of terrorism, which has taken place in broad daylight. The tragic incident has saddened all because those cops martyred in the terror attack were on security duty of the volunteers of anti-polio drive in Karachi. They were attacked in ambush and silenced to death by the fanatic terrorists.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Coordination Committee (CC) while expressing profound grief over the martyrdom of 7 cops in Bangla Bazar in Orangi Town said this in a statement issued Wednesday.

The terror attack is a clear message from the terrorists that they are open enemy to the children and infants and don’t want to see them protected from the deadly poliomyelitis virus. The terrorists, in fact, want to see the future generation affected with the deadly poliomyelitis virus. They deserve condemnation in all worst forms.

The CC said that the tragic incident of martyrdom of 7 cops in the city is not new as the terrorist have in past conducted similar acts of terror in which many volunteers of the  anti-polio drive were wounded and martyred. The terrorists indiscriminately attacked the volunteers including lady volunteers.

However, the terrorists, who attacked and martyred volunteers are still not behind the bars, said the CC, adding that a targeted operation is in full swing in Karachi since September 2013, which is solely against the MQM and in the garb of this targeted operation, a ban has been enforced against the MQM restricting the party from its political activities. The MQM workers are facing arbitrary arrests and they are being booked in fake criminal cases. The arrested workers are placed under 90-day enforced preventive detention without any proven charge or guilt and during their 90-day detention; they are subjected to vehement physical and mental torture and are compelled to change their loyalty.

On the contrary, the logic for the launch of the targeted operation in Karachi, which was to eliminate the extremist and terrorist gangs from the city are free to operate and the jet black terrorists are free and facing no barred situation.

The CC expressed its condolence with the aggrieved families of the martyred cops and also prayed for them to have the courage to bear this irreparable loss.

The CC demanded the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chief of the Army Staffs General Rahil Sharif, federal interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the attack on the cops at Bangla Bazar and Disco Morr in Orangi Town and bring them to task at the earliest.

The CC also demanded for a comprehensive strategy for security of the LEAs’ personnel on security duty of the volunteers of anti-polio drive.
