MQM slams load-shedding in Karachi

The Coordination Committee strongly condemned the unscheduled and unannounced load-shedding during the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examinations in Karachi.
In a statement, the Coordination Committee demanded the K-Electric to immediately declare all the examinations’ centers exempted from load-shedding. It said that the load-shedding was continue with some illogical justifications and during such high time of heat it was routine to shut down electricity all the day.
The Committee demanded the administration of KE to complete all the maintenance work during the winter season and should stop shutting down the electricity in summer for maintenance. It said that the incompetency and lack of proper planning of KE caused unannounced and unscheduled load-shedding in various parts of the city.
The Coordination Committee also demanded the National Electricity and Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) should fulfill its core responsibility to provide uninterrupted electricity in the country. It said that the Nepra seemed to taking care the interests of the power companies rather providing relief to the people and concentrating only on increasing power tariffs.
