Members of the Coordination Committee (CC) of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) addressing a crowded press conference showed video clippings of interviews by Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, Imran Khan, Khawaja Asif and others with a view to drawing a comparison with the speeches of Altaf Hussain.
In video, Nawaz Sharif in his interview telecasted by a local news channel was more insulting and critical of the Armed Forces of Pakistan. He held the generals of armed forces for dismembering Pakistan. The same assertions were made by Altaf Hussain in more subtle manner but still a ban was placed on him in media, they CC members said asking that if the laws are equal for all then how Nawaz Sharif became Prime Minister for third time.
This was an open discrimination between the sons of the soils and those who migrated to Pakistan, said CC members including Dr Farooq Sattar, Arif Khan Advocate, Shabbir Qaimkhani, Zahid Mansuri, Arshad Hussain, Abdul Qadir Khanzada and Rehana Nasreen.
Altaf Hussain is the only leader in the political and judicial history of Pakistan who was facing media outage for his alleged anti-establishment statements, the CC members said adding that all restrictions and enforcement of laws are for Mohajirs while the rest are free to even castigate national institutions.
The question is not of a new or old video clip but of hate speeches against armed forces of Pakistan and everyone who does so should be held equally accountable said the MQM leaders.
They demanded lifting of ban on speeches and photographs from their party leader and founder of MQM or same action should be taken against Nawaz Sharif, Khawaja Asif and others for crime of identical nature, they added.
