Nadeem Nusrat laments continuing deaths in Thar due to criminal negligence of Sindh Government

London: 13th January 2015.
Acting Convener of MQM Co-ordination Committee Nadeem Nusrat has expressed his grave concerns on the continuing deaths of children in Thar because of drought and illnesses. He lamented the callous attitude of the Sindh Government and said that hospitals in Thar and adjoining areas were barely equipped to handle the situation.
Mr Nusrat said that doctors and other medical staff were inadequate and machines were not working. He said the situation was worsening because of massive corruption in the health department and the resulting criminal negligence.
Mr Nusrat regretted that instead of taking notice of the situation and taking urgent steps the Chief Minister was giving excuses which indicated nothing but insensitivity of his government towards the alarming situation in Thar.
Mr Nusrat extended sympathies to the families whose children died in Thar because of drought, malnourishment and lack of medical care.
