Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain felicitated the nation and all the Pakistanis living abroad the 66th Independence Day of the country, saying that extremism and feudalism must be brought to end so as to realize the dream of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah of a liberal, democratic and a welfare state.
In a special congratulatory message issued on the eve of Independence Day, the MQM chief said that the true spirit of the country’s creation and the blessings of independence could not be achieved unless the obsolete feudal system and landlordism was eradicated from the country.
Deploring that the country was in the grip of terrorism, he said that the MQM mindful of the fact that there was need to take concrete measures and chalk out a comprehensive policy against terrorism has issued a national counter terrorism policy on the 66th Independence Day of the country.
Mr Hussain regretted that although 66 years had elapsed since Pakistan came into being, the countrymen were still deprived of the fruits of independence and democracy merely owing to the feudal mentality.
He said that with a view to making the country a liberal, democratic and a welfare state in accordance with dream and philosophy of Quaid-i-Azam it was imperative to bring an end to extremism and feudal system from the country, besides no citizen should be discriminated on the basis of their religion, sect, ideology and gender.
The MQM chief emphasized the need for giving equal rights to all the religious minorities living the country, ensuring sanctity of their places of worships.
At the outset, Mr Hussain exhorted all the Pakistanis to pledge on this auspicious occasion of Independence Day that they would play their role against the prevailing obsolete feudal and landlordism so as to realize the dream of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
