9 office bearers, workers arrested: MQM

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) yesterday said nine of the party’s office bearers and activists were arrested from different areas of Karachi.
A press statement issued here stated that the “Police, Rangers and plainclothesmen arrested nine MQM’s office bearers and activists by raiding their houses without warrants and shifted them to undisclosed location,”.
The arrests came a day when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited Karachi to review security situation in the city.
It said, Aijaz and Rana Maqsood, activists of Shah Faisal Unit-108, Kamal and Arshad Naveed of Unit-107, Altaf Haider of Unit-106, Nadeem and Zeeshan of Unit-105 were rounded up.
The personnel also arrested area in-charge of Korangi Unit-75 Imran, an activist of Unit-70 Qasim, and Atif Fazal of Mehmoodabad Sector UC-2, it added further.
The statement said that the family members of the activists were concerned over the arrests.
