“It is the prime obligation of the State to ensure protection of the citizens and the State could not be deprived of this basic primary obligation”
KARACHI:  Mutahhida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has given positive signals to Jamiat Ulema-e Islam Fazal (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who has been chosen as man of trust by the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and leader of opposition in national assembly Syed Khursheed Shah with a task to convince the MQM to come back to the Parliament.
Following a scheduled meeting with the MQM coordination Committee in Karachi, Maulana Rehman visited the residence of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain known as Nine Zero in Azizabad, Karachi Tuesday morning.
The MQM Coordination Committee gave a warm welcome to Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the workers of the MQM sprinkled tons of rose petal to make Maulana Fazlur Rehman feel the warmth, which is a tradition of the MQM to receive the guest at Nine Zero.
What was discussed inside closed doors is unknown to everyone except those present inside and engaged in political and reconciliatory dialogue, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and his colleagues and the MQM leaders.
On completing the initial process of the dialogue, Dr Farooque Sattar on behalf of the MQM and Maulana Rehman as common representative of the Parliament chatted to the newsmen.
Taking the dice first as host, Dr Sattar said the MQM had warmly welcomed the delegation under the aegis of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and has assured him of positive steps would be taken by the MQM with regard to coming back to the Parliament.
This indicated the initial talks remained quite successful and its is very likely that the MQM would after a second round of talks in Islamabad be back on their seats in the Parliament.
While talking to the newsmen, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that he had also talked to the MQM chief Altaf Hussain and told him that as per traditions, the guests are always welcomed and never seen off bare handed on which the MQM chief assured him he would be leaving his residence empty handed.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the initial talks with the MQM remained very positive and added that he has been successful in convincing the MQM to play a role in the Parliament, which they have responded in positive.
He said a consensus was needed to reach a unanimous decision and the MQM had showed a very positive stance and would soon be back to the Parliament.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman had stressfully asserted that the reservations of the MQM have to be addressed or else it would not be difficult for the MQM to retender collective resignations, which would be as harmful as it is today.
He said it is the prime obligation of the State to ensure protection of the citizens and the State could not be deprived of this basic primary obligation.
He lauded the MQM for adhering to dialogue despite a big tragedy about deadly attack on Rasheed Godil was occurred amid discussions.
