The actions of the ISI Chief have put Pak Army Chief in a dilemma
Mr Altaf Hussain, chief of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), the third largest political party of Pakistan, has revealed that Pakistan Army is suffering from internal fissures. He said this while talking to members of Central Coordination Committee of MQM from London over the phone.
Mr Altaf Hussain briefed the members of the CCC about the discussions he had had with various Mohajir intellectuals, writers and scholars about holding a "Senior Mohajirs World Conference" in London in the next few days.
During his conversation, Mr Altaf Hussain revealed that "according to my information, the army itself is suffering from severe internal fissures. As per my sources, the Military Intelligence (MI) stands with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), whereas the entire ISI is with Generl Rizwan Akhtar, the Director General of ISI, who yields more powers than the Army Chief."
Mr Hussain said that he has also learned through reliable sources that "General Rizwan Akhtar would be the new army chief once the current Army Chief has retired and a consensus on this issue has been reached between the military circles and the current federal government ."
The MQM Chief said that "General Raheel Sharif, the chief of Pakistan Army, is a valiant, professional soldier , but the actions of the ISI Chief have put him in a dilemma."
"At a time when Pakistan is facing severe challenges and threats at India, Afghanistan and Iran borders, God forbid this friction might become cause of the country's destruction."
The MQM leader said that "we are tolerating the illegal and unconstitutional actions of Para-Military Rangers with patience. But it's our belief that perpetrators, whether civilians or in uniform, will face wrath of Almighty God".
