MQM Co-ordination Committee has strongly condemned the extrajudicial murder of Unit 165 worker Muhammad Hashim and termed it barbarism. It said that police, plainclothesmen, and law-enforcing agencies have been given free hand to committee injustices against MQM workers and arrest them illegally.
The Co-ordination Committee said that Muhammad Hashim was arrested by police and plain-clothes personnel from his temporary residence in Surjani Town on the morning of 4th July. His tortured body was found near Zero Point area in Surjani. He was 40 and has left behind a widow, three daughters and two sons.
The Co-ordination Committee appealed to PM Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and national and international rights organizations to take notice of illegal arrests of MQM workers and killing them extrajudicially by subjecting them to brutal torture in custody.
Muhammad Hashim was laid to rest in Shuhada graveyard in Yasinabad. His funeral prayer was held in Rahmania Masjid in Liaquatabad No 2.
Member of MQM Co-ordination Committee Azeem Farooqui, CEC member Ahmed Saleem Siddiqui, MNA Shaikh Salahuddin and office-bearers and workers of the party attended the funeral.
