Condemning the Sindh government’s decision of raising a partition wall between Lyari’s localities inhabited by Kutchhi and Baloch communities, Sindh Assembly’s members belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement described the move as the government’s `incompetency and failure’.
In a hard-hitting joint statement, the Haq Parast legislators of the provincial assemble demanded of the government to restore permanent peace in Lyari by taking stern action against handful professional criminals and terrorists without any discrimination under the law, instead of raising a wall between the Kutchhi and Baloch populations of the locality.
They said that as a matter of fact the government by raising the wall between the neighborhoods of Kutchhi and Baloch communities wanted to divert the attention of the general public from the real issues and to prove that it was in in-fight between two groups. “The entire world knows that a handful of armed criminals and terrorists belonging to Lyari gang war under the patronage of Sindh government have made the lives of Kutchhi community and other citizens miserable owing to their involvement in extortion, kidnapping for ransom, killing of police and Rangers personnel and other heinous crimes such as hurling hand-grenades, dumping bullet-riddled and tortured bodies and slaughtering throats of innocent citizens,” they added.
Terming the Sindh’s government’s move of raising wall in Lyari `an illogical’, the MQM legislators said that the decision clearly indicated that the government which had been using the armed terrorists to crush its opponents has itself entangled in its own net and hence become of victim of confusion.
Accusing the Sindh government of patronizing the armed terrorists of Lyari gang war, the Haq Parast MPAs said that the government was reluctant to take action against the terrorists who are involved heinous crimes and who have made the lives of Kutchhi community and other innocent citizens miserable.
They suggested to the government to wipe out the terrorists belonging to Lyari gang war, instead of implementing its illogical decision of segregating Kutchhi and Baloch localities by erecting walls there.
They demanded of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to immediately initiate action against the armed terrorists of Lyari gang war, besides taking concrete measures for the rehabilitation of Kutcchi community’s families who were forced to leave their homes owing to atrocities committed on the by the terrorists.
