PUBLIC ASPIRATIONS SHOULD NOT BE EQUATED TO SEDITION AND ENMITY TO COUNTRY
The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has warmly welcomed the announcement of practical steps for the creation of the Seraiki province by President Asif Ali Zardari. The committee said that the unequivocal announcement by President Zardari regarding the creation of Seraiki province was heartening, and the MQM believes that practical steps should be taken for it.
The Co-ordination Committee said that the demand of the people living in Hazara for a separate province should also be considered. The committee said that the people of Hazara had been demanding a province in order to fulfill their political, cultural and economic aspirations. They were not only offering sacrifices for their struggle but also the demand was gaining intensity with the passage of time.
The Co-ordination Committee said that the MQM Bill for the creation of Hazara and Seraiki provinces submitted in the National Assembly and the Senate should be retrieved from the cold storage after the announcement of President Zardari. The committee called for parliamentary debate on MQM bills for the creation of new provinces.
The Co-ordination Committee said that it was high time to remove the sense of deprivation prevailing among the people for the integrity and security of the country. The committee said that the public aspirations should be considered with seriousness they deserve instead of equating them with sedition and enmity to the country.
