MQM condemns brutal bus attack in Karachi
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan's most progressive and liberal party, has strongly condemned the brutal bus attack on a bus carrying passengers from the Ismaili community that left at least 45 dead and 15 injured in Karachi this morning.
Commenting on the unprovoked massacre, Founder and Leader of MQM, Mr. Altaf Hussain said, "I condemn this barbaric and criminal act on a religious community group. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those killed and injured in this attack."
He further added, "It is tragic that innocent passengers are being targeted in the name of religion. This was a brutal act of terrorism. The perpetrators of this massacre must be brought to justice."
MQM is the largest political party in Karachi, a city of 23 million inhabitants. It has been by far the most vocal against the rising terrorism and sectarianism in Pakistan and has itself paid a heavy price for its views, losing scores of workers and four sitting lawmakers in recent years.
