MQM MPAs express concerns about water shortage in Karachi because of dispute between K-Electric and KWSB

Karachi: 6th May 2015
MQM MPAs have expressed their concerns on the suspension of water supply to Karachi because of the ongoing dispute between Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and K-Electric over outstanding dues.
The MPAs said that people of Karachi were facing acute water shortage due to the suspension of electricity at the pumping stations of KWSB.
The MQM MPAs said it was the utter failure of the Sindh Government to get the issue resolved. People were suffering because of the lack of interest of the provincial government.
The MPAs said that in the absence of local government institution, the provincial minister for local government was solely to blame for the situation after the passing of the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
The MPAs demanded PM Nawaz Sharif, CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Minister for Local Government to play their role for resolving the dispute on outstanding dues between the K-Electric and KWSB in order to restore uninterrupted water supply to Karachi.
