Karachiites peace-loving, democratic people: Altaf Hussain

The founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr. Altaf Hussain said that the people of Karachi and Sindh were peace-loving and democratic people and they were all liberal and rejected religious extremism.
Talking to the participants of the musical night at Jinnah ground, the MQM Chief said that the Karachiites could never be frightened and as much as they would be suppressed, they raised themselves against the suppression. He said that people of Karachi appealed to the authorities not to treat Karachi like occupied region because it is an economical hub of the country.
Mr. Hussain demanded intellectuals and writers to raise their voice against the discrimination of Karachiites in the name of peace and imposing writ of the government. He demanded to conduct local bodies’ elections immediately in Sindh and the 2001 Local Bodies’ system should be implemented all over the Sindh.
He said that the fund should be allocated for Mass Transit System in Karachi and local policing system should be introduced to minimize people’s grievances. He said that MQM would win the by-elections of NA-246 comprehensively with the grace of Allah and people’s support.
MQM Chief condemned all the discriminatory acts carried out for the last 67 years against the people, especially Karachiites. He said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had given the verdict that most of the political and religious parties had militant wings and despite taking action against the criminals only MQM is being victimized.
He said that Al-Qaida, ISIS and Taliban terrorists kept attacking on mosques, Imam Bargah, schools, Bazaars and public properties, while Pakistan army engaged with fighting against those terrorists. He said that he saluted army personnel offering their lives for the safety of the country.
Mr. Hussain said everyone knows the fact that the terrorists had been spread all over the Punjab, especially in Southern area of the province, including Islamabad but the operation was only carried out in Karachi. He said that the law enforcement agencies had directed the Karachiites to carry their original CNIC and action would be taken against violation.
He said that people knew that the Tajiks, Uzbiks and other foreigners were present in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but the law enforcement agencies never ordered them to carry original CNIC along with them. He said that the Karachiites were just being discriminated and being treated with biasness.
Mr. Hussain said that the NA-246 by-elections are being conducted like Karachi is an occupied region and CCTV cameras are being installed all the polling stations. He said these are the tactics to harass the voters. He said that they did not have any objection against the CCTV cameras but why such CCTV cameras were not installed during the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa.
He thanked all the religious leaders including Shias,Sunnis, Baralvis, Deobandis, Ahl-e-Hadiths and others for supporting MQM’s candidate Kanwar Naveed Jameel during NA-246 elections. He urged people not to react against any provocations of the opponent’s candidates and maintain peace during the elections.
