The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has congratulated the head of PML (N) Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on success of his party in general elections. “We accept the mandate received by all political and religious parties and hope that the mandate obtained by the MQM will also be accepted with an open heart.”
Addressing the joint meeting of the Co-ordination Committee in London and Karachi on Wednesday night, Mr Hussain said the MQM had submitted an application with the Election Commission of Pakistan for re-election in NA – 250 and hence the Co-ordination Committee should put off the sit-in till the decision of the commission on the application.
Mr Hussain said that the process of general elections had ended in the country and political parties having reservations on the results of certain constituencies should submit applications with the election commission or approach courts.
Mr Hussain said that the PML (N) had emerged as the majority party in the current general elections and the MQM accepts its majority with an open heart. He congratulated Mr Sharif and hoped that he would give good governance to the country. He said he expected Mr Sharif also to accept the mandate received by the MQM with an open heart.
Mr Hussain said that he accepts the mandate of other parties as well including the PPP, PTI, ANP, JUI (F) PML (F) and( QWP)
Addressing journalists, writers, anchor persons and owner of newspapers and television channels, he apologized if the words said by him in the heat of emotions had caused them annoyance.
He prayed for the well-being and speedy recovery of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and congratulated him on the success of his party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He appealed to the nation to pray for his health.
Mr Hussain paid tributes to the participants of the sit-in before the office of the Election Commission and praised them for their steadfastness.
