The Caretaker government and security forces must ensure protection of candidates
London: 9th May 2013
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain telephoned President Asif Zardari and expressed sorrow on the kidnapping of Ali Haider Gillani, the PPP candidate and son of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani. He strongly condemned the incident and said that earlier the offices and rallies of the MQM and other particular political parties were being attacked with bomb blasts and now the kidnapping of election candidates had started.
Mr Hussain said that the caretaker government and the security forces must ensure protection of election candidates. President Zardari agreed with Mr Hussain and added that the terrorists would not be allowed to hijack the electoral process. He said that he had asked the security forces to take immediate action for recovering Ali Haider Gillani and for giving adequate security to election candidates.
