 Posted on: 4/10/2015
The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement strongly condemned the attack and vandalism on MQM election campaign camp in Liaquatabad during Jamaat-e-Islami rally.
In a statement, the Coordination Committee said that when the JI's rally reached at Al-Azam Square, some of the participants came at MQM's camp and started provoking workers, after that an unpleasant incident occured and MQM was blamed for that immediately. It said that the provocation seemed to be preplaned and should be condemned.
The Committee said that MQM tried to carry out all the political activities during by-election peacefully and avoided any provocation that might harm the process. It said MQM Chief Mr. Altaf Hussain  is continuously trying to defuse the tension and even today he appealed people not to raise slogans against any of the political parties visiting Jinnah ground.
The Coordination Committee said that Mr. Hussain directed MQM workers and supporters that even the opponent party workers tore his posters or picture, do not retaliate against them. It said that MQM leadership, especially Mr. Hussain kept showing positive gestures for all the political and religious parties but MQM was being blamed for provocation.
The Committee appealed the leaderships of Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to avoid blame-game and support MQM to maintain peace during the by-election of NA-246. It also demanded the government and law enforcement agencies to utilize all the possible sources to maintain peace and control the situation.
