MQM urges govt to bring an end to workers’ killing

MQM urges govt to bring an end to workers’ killing
 Posted on: 4/22/2013
Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Coordination Committee has strongly condemned the brutal killing of its Landhi Sector’s (Unit-85) worker, Arshad Siddiqui, saying that such criminal acts on the part of terrorists were part of a conspiracy aimed at creating hurdles in the party’s free electioneering campaign and to disturb the city’s peace.
In a strongly-worded statement, the MQM Coordination Committee regretted it was since the beginning of the party’s election campaign the terrorists were shedding blood of MQM’s innocent office-bearers and workers despite heavy presence of law-enforcement agencies.
Deploring that although more than 11 office-bearers and workers of the party, including its provincial assembly’s candidate in Hyderabad, Fakhar-ul-Islam, had been gunned down in recent terrorist attacks, the committee said that it was beyond one’s comprehension that why none of the killers had, so far, been apprehended and, as such, it posed a big question concerning the forthcoming peaceful and transparent elections.
The Coordination Committee said that although the killing of MQM’s innocent office-bearers and workers was continuing unabated, the party had always asked its workers to remain patient, instead of getting instigated by such heinous crimes.
Expressing sympathies with the family of Arshad Siddiqui, the Committee prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the soul in eternal peace and grant fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
At the outset, the Coordination Committee demanded of President Asif Ali Zardari, caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khoso, Interior Minister Habib Malik, Sindh governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad and caretaker chief minister retired Justice Zahid Kurban Alavi, to take serious notice of the killings of Landhi Sectors worker, Arshad Siddiqui, its candidate for provincial assembly in Hyderabad, Fakharul Islam and other MQM’s office-bearers and workers, nab the murderers and award them exemplary punishment.
