Pakistan’s liberal and progressive political party, the Muttahida Qaumi movement organized a candle light vigil at the Trafalgar square, London on Sunday, December 21st in memory of the Peshawar attack victims.
The event was attended by people from different walks of life including politicians and representatives of different faiths. ‘The European Parliament stands in solidarity with the families of the victims and the Pakistani nation.’ said MEP Barrister Amjad Bashir
While addressing the event, Member coordination committee MQM London, Mr. Mustafa Azizabadi said, ‘Along with the Taliban stern action should also be taken against Taliban apologists and facilitators.’
MQM has been on the forefront and a lone bold voice against Taliban.Three sitting lawmakers of MQM and hundreds of workers and supporters have been killed in attacks by the Taliban. MQM’s Chief Mr.Altaf Hussain is also first and so far the only Pakistani statesman to condemn the increasing threat of IS in Pakistan.
Addressing an anti- Taliban rally in Pakistani city of Karachi on December 19th Mr. Hussain had said, ‘They may kill me, But I won’t stop from raising voice against them and their heinous crimes against humanity in the name of religion,’

MQM is a party whose policies are closely aligned with global values. It is first and foremost the party of equal rights and equal opportunity for all. This includes women and religious and ethnic minorities. It is firmly opposed to both the Taliban and all forms of fanaticism and extremism.
