The founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), Mr. Altaf Hussain strongly condemned the brutal torture on blind people in Lahore and appealed to the religious and political parties to raise voice against police brutality.
In a statement issued from London Secretariat, MQM Chief said everyone knows that the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities” Is being observed on today. He said that people, government officials and human right organisations throughout the world expressed their solidarity with disabled persons.
Meanwhile, in Pakistan, neither such programs and functions were organised nor government paid any attention to resolve the issues of disabled persons, he added. He said that disabled persons gathered to raise voice for their rights in Lahore when police tortures them.
Mr. Hussain said that instead of resigning over the issue, the Punjab cabinet just ordered formal investigation against the culprits. He also appealed to all NGOs, human rights organisation, political and religious parties to raise voice against the brutal torture on protesting blind people.
