The Coordination Committee has announced that MQM will soon build a field hospital in Thar with the help of Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation and Medical Aid Committee because MQM is not doing politics on issues but wants to help of Thar in real sprit.
Speaking at a press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat, Azizabad, the Deputy Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui demanded the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take immediate notice on Thar’s situation. He said that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah should go out of his palace like bunker and should sit in the camps at Thar.
Dr Siddiqui said that the time has come when everyone has to be answerable to people and said that Sindh government should point out the culprits of Thar-tragedy. He said that due to the corruption and incompetence, the Thar-coal project was almost abandoned. He said that through that project people of Tharis could be prospered and locals can get hired in that project.
He also appealed to the donors to come forward and to assist MQM to provide rescue and rehabilitation works in the calamity-hit Thari areas. He said that through media everyone knew the exact situation of Thar that famine and poverty prevailed everywhere. He said that death wandered around in the streets and passages of Thar, where children, especially infants were being victimized of the situation.
Dr Siddiqui said that when MQM workers and KKF volunteers reached at the ground, they found the situation more crucial then it was projected even by the eyes of the media. He said that they distributed more 10 million rupees relief goods among the famine victims.
He said that the relief goods were insufficient for the victims and appealed to the people to donate and participate in such great cause. He said that MQM rescued a woman whose husband passed away 10 days ago because of famine and the woman was also in her last breaths.
He said that MQM was devising a plan to rescue Tharis from the famine and for that purpose it would install tube wells. He also thanked to the media for creating awareness about the actual situation of the ground not only in the country but also in the world.
