Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF), on behalf of Mr. Altaf Hussain, the founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), has set up three-day medical and assistant camps for famine-hit Tharis.
In a statement issued said that the 3-day camps were set up under the supervision of MQM Deputy Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. Members Coordination Committee Wasay Jalil, Syed Shakir Ali, Ashfaq Mangi, MNA Syed Wasim Hussain, MNAs Dilawar Quraishi Advocate, Dr Zafar Kamali, Panjumil Bhel, Erum Farooqui, Rana Ansar, Naheed Begum, MQM workers and office-bearers were also present on the occasion.
The Deputy Convener visited and met with the doctors and paramedical staff of the medical camp and inquired about the famine-victims and their treatment facilities. He directed the camp in-charge to provide best medical care to the unfortunate victims. He, himself, checked the patients and provided them appropriate prescriptions and medicines.
He also visited the assistant camp where he distributed food, water and other routine essentials among victims. It is pertained to mention that the bundle of edible items, including food, water, milk, vegetables and children’s items, is sufficient for fifteen days for a family.
While talking to the media persons during his visit, Dr Siddiqui said that on the directives of MQM Chief Mr. Altaf Hussain, they came to assist their Thari brothers in the remote area of Sindh. He said that people had been suffering famine and various epidemics and they came to help them out of such miseries.
He said that for the past decades, the Tharis were unfortunate enough for not getting attention from the governments and the authorities to resolve their fundamental issues. He said that they did not come to do politics but to serve the humanity and to save Tharis’ precious lives and properties.
Dr Siddiqui said that it was MQM’s history that whenever, the nation was in need, MQM always came forward with its assistance for the sufferers or needy. He said that they did not rely on government help for serving people but they themselves contributed and asked people to participate for donations.
He said that on the directives of MQM Chief Mr. Altaf Hussain, the then Minister for Commerce and Industries Rauf Siddiqui started a Skilled-Labor Colony for Tahris but sooner the Minister resigned, Sindh government abandoned the project. He directly asked to the Chief Minister Sindh that his government seized 100 percent power and resources of the province, so why he should not show some seriousness to provide relief to the Tharis.
Dr Siddiqui informed to Tharis, who thronged the camps, that MQM and KKF would keep serving Tharis till the Famine prevailed or the situation got better in the area. He also met with the locals to listen to their issues and problems and ensured them to assist to resolve all the issues.
