I sent people from poor and middle classes to the assemblies for the first time in Pakistan: Altaf Hussain

I brought about a real revolution in urban areas of Sindh by the power of ballot
The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said he had sent educated youths from poor, lower middle and middle classes to the Provincial Assembly and National Assembly of the country long before Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri had set foot in politics.
Mr Hussain said it was unfortunate that a majority of the analysts, journalists, and anchor persons find it difficult to recognize that the MQM and Altaf Hussain were the first to bring people from poor and middle classes in politics. But they continue to sing praises of Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri that they were working to empower the poor and middle classes.
“Although I had started my struggle with the APMSO yet I wanted to break the status quo by eliminating the feudal system in order to establish justice and equality from the very beginning.”
“I wanted to bring an end to the dual system of education, eradication of corruption and sending people from middle and lower middle classes to the corridors of power in the country.”
“People found it out-of-the-ordinary and unique when I started talking about sending qualified and able youths in the elected houses. They would question if the things being suggested by Altaf Hussain could really be workable.”
“Some ridiculed me and my manifesto. They jeered at me and said it was not for the poor people to think about coming into politics and getting elected. They would say that my struggle was useless and would always ask me to give up my efforts. But I remained determined and pursued my manifesto relentlessly.”
