The provincial Parliamentarians of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) have expressed their serious concerns over the fatting inflation because of undue price hikes of various essential items, including edibles.
They termed that it was malignity and injustice with the masses, especially poor. They said that after increasing electricity and gas prices, the essential items, including milk, vegetables, sugar, rice, wheat, oil, powder milk, condiments and other households became out of reach to poor and middle-class people.
The Parliamentarians also indicated that at various places the shopkeepers took their own prices of these items. They said, “People are compelled to live their lives in misery due to some hoarders and profiteers, while the government seems nowhere to rescue the masses from such discriminating elements.”
They said, “Poor and lower middle-class people are deprived of providing essential food to their children.” They demanded the Sindh government to take instant notice about the undue price hike of the basic essentials and stopped sending them over billings of utilities.
