Pakistan Media Development Authority Ordinance would be a fascist ordinance: Altaf Hussain
This will be a renewal of demonic colonial system in Pakistan

Founder & Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr. Altaf Hussain strongly condemn the new law of Pakistan Media Development Authority Ordinance. In a statement released on twitter yesterday, he said that this ordinance would be a fascist ordinance, People believing in democratic values can't accept that Ordinance. Everybody is condemning this fascist mindset of the government.

He said that the government is abolishing all existing laws related to media and to replace them with proposed Pakistan Media Development Authority. Through this ordinance, government would control all forms of media including electronic, print and digital media. Astonishingly, the government would pick and choose the members who would regulate the media.
He further said that under the proposed Ordinance, the government will exercise full discretionary powers and can revoke licences of media operators without giving any notice. In addition, the government will also confiscate equipment and arrest the media persons and journalists and take over the offices and seal the places from where it is run. The affected media company will be constrained to lodge any appeal only at the tribunal which would also be constituted by the incumbent government. Right to appeal against this fascism will be in the tribunal constituted by the government. The appellant can only move Supreme Court instead of High Court. Mr. Hussain said that Media operators can't deny to carry forward what propaganda government would initiate. Criticising government would be a punishable act and can be sentenced for three years in jail. Media can't speak on matters that have ruined the country.
He said according to this draconian ordinance, There will be a fine of Rs.25 million. In case of three consecutive violations and penalties imposed then the media operators would be forced to sell their properties for fund required to fight the case. Under the proposed Ordinance, it would be mandatory to get licence for the social media for hefty money. In addition, prior permission and clearance from country's military intelligence, inter-services intelligence and intelligence bureau should be taken.
Mr. Hussain said that there will be a renewal of demonic colonial system in Pakistan.
