Woman accuses LEAs of robbery
Karachi, Jan 11: A widow, Nargis Khatoon, on Monday accused
the police and the Rangers personnel of committing robbery in her
house at Chandni Chowk in Liaquatabad on Saturday afternoon when
she had gone for Iftar with some relatives.
Nargis Khatoon, who was accompanied by two other women, speaking
at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Monday
afternoon, alleged that on Saturday when she was away from her
house for Iftar with her relatives, the LEA personnel came and
after breaking the lock took away all the valuables.
She said on her return she found valuables and cash messing,
including Rs. 100,000 jewellery, a colour TV set, a sewing
machine and fan etc.
She stated that her house was located two streets away from where
an encounter took place a few days back. She said she neither had
any affiliation with any organization nor she had any son of male
member in the family but two daughters. One of them was married
while for the other she had boon arranging dowry, and the
jewellery, the sewing machine, the fan, and the cash money were
part of the dowry which had been taken away by the raiding party.
In reply to a question she said that the people of her locality
had informed her that the police personnel came in a few mobiles
and after breading the lock took away all the valuables.
They had also ordered to keep the door open as they would again
visit the house. Later in the night they again visited the house
and made the announcement that any person who would give shelter
to any one would also be picked up by them.
To another question she said she did not belong t any
organization nor any youth had been visiting her house.
When asked if she had lodged complaints about robbery with the
police or appealed to the Governor, Nargis Khatoon said she did
not dare to contact the police as the police were involved, and
how could they come to her rescue.
