1000 Dacoities, 7000 abductions and rape in Punjab in 11 months

KARACHI, Dec. 12: As many as 15 murders, five rapes and one police encounter takes place every day in Punjab where over 4000 people were killed in different incidents and over 1000 dacoities and 7000 cases of abduction and rapes were reported in the first 11 months of current year.

The statistics was mentioned in a report sent to higher authorities by a sensitive agency. Opposition parties say that invocation of Article 245 is also required for Punjab where situation is similar to that in Sindh.

It is further reported that over 4 lac cases were registered throughout Punjab in 11 months.

This alarming situation has also given an opportunity to the opponents of Nawaz Sharif to criticise the working of Shahbaz-led Punjab government which has also failed in maintaining law and order in the province.
