MQM HOLDS PROTEST DEMONSTRATION ON NAWAZ SHARIF'S ARRIVAL IN USA

WASHINGTON - December 2, 1998

The members of the MQM USA & Canada held an impressive protest demonstration outside the Andrew Air Force Base against the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif when he arrived in USA on an official visit on Tuesday night. The peaceful protesters were chanting slogans against the human rights violations committed against Mohajirs by Sharif Government in Sindh Province of Pakistan. The Officials of Pakistan Embassy in USA and ministers of Nawaz Sharif, embarrassed by the demonstration, decided not to face the protesters and drove the PM's motorcade from other gate. The protesters, including men, women and children, continued their protest for sometime and later dispersed, peacefully.

The MQM has also planned to hold a massive protest rally at the White House, during the meeting between US President Bill Clinton and PM Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday.
