Hakim Said on Shariat Bill
I am a member of the Hamdard Majlis-i-Shoora which meets
regularly every month in the four provincial capitals of Pakistan.
I have before me a paper which the learned Hakim Said had
circulated for discussion in the September session of the Majlis.
In this paper, he expressed in strong terms the futility and
impracticability of enforcing Shariah through legislation and had
advocated in equally strong terms the need to do so by personal
example by the people at the helm of State affairs. This meant
that Hakim Sahib did not support the bill.
