TARGETED KILLINGS TO PHYSICALLY ELIMINATE THE MQM WORKERS, OFFICE-BEARERS AND SUPPORTERS CONTINUE…

September 30, 1998

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) is the third largest political party of Pakistan and the second largest in the province of Sindh. Targeted killings to physically eliminate the MQM workers and supporters continue in the urban centres of Sindh, especially Karachi. In yet another horrific incident armed terrorists under the patronage of Law Enforcement Agencies ruthlessly murdered Shahid Ali, an office-bearer of MQM and critically injured the other, in North Nazimabad, Karachi.

Since the General Elections of February 1997, more than 250 MQM office bearers, workers and supporters have been ruthlessly murdered by the Intelligence Agencies and their sponsored terrorists.

I-- DETAILS OF KILLING

Syed Shahid Ali age: 28years, son of Syed Akbar Ali, resident of D-58, Azimpura, Shah Faisal Colony, Karachi. He was the Member of MQM Shah Faisal Colony Sector Committee.

On 29 September 1998, at around 9.30 p.m., he was passing through Block 'L' and 'H' of North Nazimabad, Karachi, along with Tehseen Ahmed (Incharge of MQM Shah Faisal Sector), when some unidentified armed terrorists, who are usually the personnel of the Law Enforcement Agencies, attacked them and opened fire. Shahid Ali was shot three times in the abdomen and died on the spot whereas Tehseen Ahmed was severely injured and is being treated at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

II-- DETAILS OF ARRESTS

30 September 1998

Mohammad Noor Alam 25, son of Abdul Sattar, resident of 12/L Baloch Goth, Karachi. He is the Incharge of MQM Unit 122, Sector Qasbah Aligarh. At around 1.30 a.m., the personnel of Orangi Extension Police Station raided his house and arrested him.

29 September 1998

Mohammad Tahir 14, son of Mushtaq Ahmed, resident of House No. N-532, Korangi No. 3-1/2, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 72, Sector Korangi. At around 2.30 a.m., the personnel of Korangi Police Station raided his house and arrested him.

28 September 1998

1-- Adnan 24, son of Sultan, resident of Quarter No. 81-8, New Karachi, G-11, Karachi. He is a supporter of MQM Unit 143-A, Sector New Karachi. At around 2.30 a.m., the personnel of New Karachi Police Station raided his house and arrested him.

2-- Maqbool Ahmed 30, son of Abdul Waheed, resident of Quarter No. 81-2, New Karachi, G-11, Karachi. He is the younger brother of Unit Incharge Mohammad Ikraam. At around 2.30 a.m., the personnel of New Karachi Police Station led by CIA Inspector Mumtaz raided his house and arrested him.

26 September 1998

1-- Mohammad Shakeel Ansari 29, son of Mohammad Shareef Ansari, resident of 2/34, Korangi No. 3, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 87, Sector Landhi. At around 10.30 p.m., the personnel of Korangi Police Station raided his house and arrested him.

2-- Mohammad Imran 22, son of Mohammad, resident of 136-A, North Karachi, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 136-A, Sector North Karachi. In the early hours of 26 September 1998, the personnel of CIA Saddar Police led by Rana Farhad raided his house and arrested him.

25 September 1998

1-- Mirza Ahsan Baig 30, son of Mirza Sultan Baig, resident of N-419, Madina Colony, ST-19, Sector A-50, Korangi, Karachi. He is a very active worker of MQM Unit 76, Sector Korangi. At around 5 p.m., he was arrested by the personnel of Korangi Police Station.

2-- Naeem Uddin 35, son of Shameem Uddin, resident of House No. B-341, Korangi No. 6, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 76, Sector Korangi. At around 2 p.m., the personnel of Korangi Police arrested him.
