HORRIFYING DETAILS OF THE MURDERS OF FOUR MQM WORKERS INCLUDING A UNIT INCHARGE IN KARACHI, PAKISTAN
Karachi: September 14, 1998:
A-- On 11 September 1998, Mohammad Shameem, incharge of MQM Unit 122; and Waqar Khan, worker of MQM; were sitting near Ghausia Mosque in Qasbah Aligarh when some unidentified terrorists escorted by the personnel of the Intelligence Agencies and armed with lethal weapons arrived in a Suzuki car and fired indiscriminately upon them. Waqar and Shameem were shot several times from close range and died on the spot. Their details are:
1- Mohammad Shameem, age: 22 year, son of Mohammad Chand Mian, resident of House No.931, Sector 8-A, Orangi Town, Karachi. He was the Incharge of MQM Unit 122, Sector Qasbah Aligarh.
2- Waqar Khan, age: 18 year, son of Mohammad Usman Khan, resident of House No. 1740, Orangi Town, Karachi. He was a worker of MQM Unit 122, Sector Qasbah Aligarh.
Eyewitness accounts according to a leading English Daily, The News of September 12, 1998:
"Eyewitness said Waqar and his friend had come to the residence of Shameem and were sitting in front of his residence when two armed people opened fire on them and fled leaving them in a pool of blood."
In the same incident another MQM worker Khalid was kidnapped and taken to unknown destination. His dead body bearing marks of torture was found near Orangi Town No. 5 Police Station.
3- Khalid, age: 23 year, son of Allah Bukhsh, resident of E-256, Alshams Colony, Karachi. He was a worker of MQM Unit 126, Sector Orangi Town.
According to a leading English daily, Daily DAWN of September 13, 1998:
"He was suspected to have been kidnapped on Friday night, subjected to torture and shot dead before his body was dumped in an isolated place in Sector-5-E. The police sent the body to the hospital for autopsy, and said they had mounted a search for suspects."
B-- Mohammad Aslam, age: 32 year, son of Mohammad Raees, resident of House No. 1226, 51-C. Korangi No.6, Karachi. He was a supporter of MQM Unit 79, Sector Korangi.
On 10 September 1998, at around 1 a.m., he was kidnapped by the Haqiqi terrorists, who were escorted by the personnel of Paramilitary Rangers from near his house. He was brutally tortured and murdered.
AVAILABLE REPORTS OF RAIDS, ARREST AND HARASSMENT OF MQM WORKERS, SUPPORTERS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS BY THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND THEIR SPONSORED TERRORISTS
1-- On 12 September 1998, at around 4 p.m., some unidentified gunmen on motorcycle opened fire upon an MQM worker Mohammad Naseem son of Mohammad Shamim, 20. He was shot in the thigh and was immediately taken to Qatar Hospital for medical treatment.
2-- On 12 September 1998, at around 3.30 p.m., the personnel of Korangi Police Station led by SHO Saulat Niazi in 4 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) raided the Co-ordination office of MQM Korangi in Area 33-D. They forcibly entered into the office and ransacked the entire furniture and destroyed the papers in the office. The residents of the area have persistently protested against the brutal and harassing attitude of SHO Saulat Niazi. It has been reported that he arrests innocent Mohajirs, torture them and harass their families for their release.
3-- On 12 September 1998, at around 4 a.m., the personnel of Korangi Police Station raided the house of Riaz, an MQM worker of Unit 77, Sector Korangi, in D-Area, Korangi. In his absence they arrested his younger brother Shahid Khan, 27; and misbehaved with the family members.
4-- On 12 September 1998, at around 12.15 p.m., the personnel of Korangi Police Station raided the house of an MQM worker Kamran 22, son of Ata Ur Rehman in Korangi and arrested him.
5-- On 11 September 1998, at around 4.30 a.m., the personnel of Jamshed Quarters Police Station in 3 Armoured Personnel Carriers and two mobiles along with Haqiqi terrorists raided the house of Kashif, a worker of MQM Unit 77, Sector Korangi, and arrested his brother Kamran 24; and misbehaved with the family members.
6-- On 11 September 1998, at around 3 a.m., the personnel of Surjani Town Police Station led by SHO Shehbaz raided the house of an MQM worker Abdul Waheed 22, son of Abdul Aziz in Yousuf Goth, New Karachi; and arrested him.
7-- On 11 September 1998, at around 11 p.m., the personnel of Korangi Police Station led by the Station House Officer (SHO) raided the house B-123, Korangi 1-1/2, of an MQM worker Fareed. In his absence they arrested his brother Amir and misbehaved with the family members.
8-- On 11 September 1998, at around 4.30 a.m., the personnel of CIA Saddar Police raided the house of an MQM worker Imran in New Karachi. In his absence they arrested his brother Rashid 19, son of Abdul Majid.
9-- Ehtesham 16, son of Nazar Mohammad, resident of House No. 52, 33-D, Korangi No. 4, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 77, Sector Korangi. On 10 September 1998, at around 10 a.m., he went to Degree Science College in Landhi, Karachi but never returned. It is strongly apprehended that the Haqiqi terrorists have kidnapped him.
