MQM SENATOR MUSTAPHA KAMAL'S GAS STATION ATTACKED AND LOOTED FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH

Karachi: July 3, 1998

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) is the third largest political party of Pakistan and the second largest in the province of Sindh, southern Pakistan. MQM is in coalition Government with the ruling party PML (Pakistan Muslim League) both on the Federal and Provincial levels.

On 29 June 1998, Senator Mustapha Kamal informed the Senate in Islamabad that 173 workers of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) have been murdered in Karachi since February 1997, while MQM is a coalition partner with Pakistan Muslim League at the Federal and Provincial level. He also highlighted the terrorist activities of the Intelligence Agencies in Karachi through their protection and support to the 'Haqiqi' terrorists.

Within hours of his speech in the Senate, Senator Mustapha Kamal's gas/petrol station at Pak Colony, Karachi, was attacked and looted by armed assailants at around 11.30 p.m. This attack was carried out swiftly because the MQM Senator vividly described the law and order situation in Karachi and the forces behind it. Such reprisal attacks are carried out to keep the people gagged about the real causes of violence in Karachi.
