SEVEN MORE MQM WORKERS AND SUPPORTERS MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD BY THE HAQIQI TERRORISTS WITHIN TWO DAYS

Karachi, June 29, 1998

MQM is the third largest political party of Pakistan and the second largest in the province of Sindh, southern Pakistan. MQM is in coalition Government with the ruling party PML (Pakistan Muslim League) both on the Federal and Provincial levels..

In separate incidents seven MQM workers and supporters were murdered in cold blood by the Haqiqi terrorists and the personnel of law enforcement agencies. Since June 1, 1998, more than 27 MQM workers and supporters have been murdered.

EVENTS IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

28 June 1998

A-- On 28 June 1998, at around 2.30a.m., some unidentified terrorists climbed into the house of Abdul Qayyum Khan. At that time only his wife Ruhi and his little son were present in the house as all the other family members had gone to attend a marriage ceremony to a relative's house. These terrorists opened fire upon Mr. Abdul Qayyum and his wife while they were sleeping. Both of them died on the spot. It is to be noted that Mr. Abdul Qayyum is the elder brother of Mr Irfan Khan, a Member of Muttahida Organising Committee of MQM. The details of those murdered are as follows:

1- Abdul Qayyum Khan, age: 47 year, son of Abdul Aziz Khan, resident of House No. 29, Sector L-1, Surjani Town, Karachi. He was a very active supporter of MQM.

2- Mrs. Ruhi, age: 40, wife of Abdul Qayyum Khan.

B-- Syed Naeem, age: 27 year, son of Syed Mahmood, resident of R-218, Block-9, Federal B. Area, Karachi. He was a very active worker of MQM Unit 152, Sector Federal B. Area.

On 28 June 1998, at around 8.30 p.m., he was walking past the Sangam Ground in Federal B. Area, Karachi, when the Haqiqi terrorists, riding on a motorcycle identified Syed Naseem. The Haqiqi terrorists stopped him at gunpoint and shot dead from point blank range.

C-- Mohammad Abid, age: 22 year, son of Abdul Ghaffar, resident of 4/10 Commercial Area, Liaquatabad, Karachi. He was a supporter of MQM Unit 162, Sector Liaquatabad.

On 28 June 1998, at around 12 noon., he was kidnapped by the Haqiqi terrorists from near his house. He was taken to some unknown place where he was inhumanly tortured and shot dead. At around 6:oo a.m., his dead body bearing visible marks of torture was found lying on a street.

ARMED ATTACK OF THE HAQIQI TERRORISTS ON KORANGI

D-- Syed Anjum Hussain Zaidi, age: 28 year, son of Syed Akbar Hussain Zaidi, resident of House No. 7, Area 35-B, Korangi No. 4, Karachi. He was a worker of MQM Unit 77, Sector Korangi.

On 28 June 1998, at around 1.30 p.m., the Haqiqi terrorists under the protection and escort of the Law Enforcement Agencies attacked the Korangi 35-B Area. They resorted to heavy indiscriminate firing. As a result Syed Anjum Hussain Zaidi was shot in the head and died on the spot. Two other MQM workers were seriously wounded in this attack. Their details are:

1- Raees Uddin, age: 26 year, son of Ameer Uddin, resident of House No. 163, Y-Area, Korangi No. 1-1/2, Karachi. He was a very active worker of MQM Unit 75, Sector Korangi. He was shot in the abdomen and at present he is being medically treated at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

2- Allah Bakhsh, age: 40 year, son of Abdul Rehman, resident of House No. 103, C-Area, Korangi No. 4, Karachi. He was a supporter of MQM Unit 77, Sector Korangi. He has also been shot in the abdomen and at present he is being medically treated at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

27 June 1998

E-- Ahsan Saeed, age: 23 year, son of Ahmed Saeed, resident of A-2/32 Mohammad Colony, Federal B. Area, Karachi. He was a worker of MQM Unit 153, Sector Federal B. Area.

On 27 June 1998, at around 10 p.m., he was travelling in his car when the Haqiqi terrorists who had identified him followed his car. They made him to stop the car near his home. They dragged him out of the car and then shot him dead from point blank range.

24 June 1998

F-- Syed Naseem Hussain Jaffery, age: 22 year, son of Syed Nasir Hussain Jaffery, resident of Chuna Bhatti, Jauhar Line, Liaquat Compound, Ranchchore Line, Karachi. He was a worker of MQM Unit 27, Sector Ranchchore Line.

In our letter of 24 June 1998, we had mentioned an incident in which the Haqiqi terrorists attacked the MQM Sector Office in Ranchchore Line, Karachi, and murdered two MQM workers. Syed Naseem Hussain was seriously injured in that attack and was undergoing medical treatment in the hospital. He succumbed to his injuries and died in the hospital on 28 June 1998.

DETAILS OF ARRESTS

29 June 1998

G-- Mohammad Irfan, age: 22 year, son of Islam Uddin, resident of Millat Colony, Orangi Town, Karachi. He is a worker of MQM Unit 120, Sector Orangi Town.

On 29 June 1998, the personnel of Orangi Town Extension Police Station raided his house and arrested him.
