MQM IS A CHALLENGE FOR
MEDIEVAL FEUDAL SYSTEM

ALTAF HUSSAIN

Karachi, May 12, 1998

The MQM Founder and Leader Altaf Hussain, has advised the party workers and office-bearers to refrain from corruption and social evils as there is no room in the MQM for such elements.

Addressing from London on telephone at a meeting of the MQM office-bearers, Altaf Hussain asked the MQM coordination committee to establish a special desk in the No-go areas for the redresal of people's problems. He also advised the elected representatives to utilise all their resources for serving the people.

He told the office-bearers that they were given the responsibility to serve the people and not to act like waderas. He said no one in the MQM would be allowed to misuse his powers as it negates the party policy and the code of conduct

Referring to the ideology of the party, Altaf Hussain said Muttahida Quami Movement was against the prevailing feudal system. The resources and politics of Pakistan are concentrated in a few hands and democracy exists only in name.

He maintained that had the MQM, like other political and religious parties be, been a part of the corrupt political culture and obsolete feudal system then the state operation would not have been carried out against it. The meeting was attended by members of the coordination committee, Muttahida OrganizingCommittee, Provincial Ministers, Muttahida sector-in charges of Sindh, and office bearers of medical and legal aid committees.
