TWO TERRORIST BOMB BLASTS NEAR THE RESIDENCE
OF MQM LEADER MR ALTAF HUSSAIN, RESULTING IN DEATH OF TWO AND
INJURIES TO MORE THAN TWENTY TWO PERSONS IN KARACHI, PAKISTAN.
MARCH 31, 1998
Two bombs were exploded near the residence of the Founder and
Leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain in Karachi, 31March 1998 at 9:06
am and 10:10 am.
The first explosion took place at 9:06 am at Kasha Corner
flats near Bhaijan Chowk, Block .7, Federal .B Area, Karachi,
causing heavy damages to life and properties. Two persons were
killed and more than twenty-two were injured. The other blast
took place at 10:10 am at Karimabad, Federal B Area, Karachi,
resulting in injuries and damages to several shops.
It is to be noted that these explosions were carried-out only
a furlong from the residence of MQM Leader Mr Altaf Hussain,
known as "90" and one hundred yards from the residence
of MQM Deputy Convenor Senator Aftab Ahmed Sheikh.
The MQM Central Co-ordination Committee holds the intelligence
agencies of Pakistan and their sponsored terrorist group
"Haqiqi" responsible for these blasts. The committee
said that the explosions were intentional to convey their message
to the MQM Leadership that they should stop demanding the
abolition of No-Go Areas. Otherwise, the intelligence agencies
and their sponsored terrorists "Haqiqis" will make the
entire city of Karachi as a NO-GO Area for the MQM workers and
supporters. Such terrorist acts are intensified as a warning
after any reassurance by the Prime Minister to abolish the No-Go
Areas in Karachi. Today's newspapers carry such statement by
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
We would like to remind you that on 8 May 1997, two fuel tanks
were deliberately jettisoned by the airforce Mirage fighter plane
only one mile away from "90", in Sharifabad, Federal B
Area, Karachi and in Liaquatabad, Karachi. This resulted in
burning to death of more than a dozen innocent civilians and
injuring many more.
We shall provide you with further details as soon as we receive it.
