Complete "Black Day" observed in Karachi and other cities
KARACHI, March 25: Life in Karachi and other cities was almost paralysed onWednesday as all the major shopping and business centres remained closed due to mourning day called by the MuttahidaQuami Movement .A complete shutdown was observed in the district East, west, central and south,while in Defence Society and Clifton areas, business remained closed and not too many vehicles seen on the streets. However,the Secondary School Certificate examinations, being conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Karachi, wereheld as per schedule and without any interruption. MQM had requested public transporters to bring their vehicles on the roads to avoid any inconvinience to the students.
HYDERABAD: A complete strike was observed in the twin cities of Hyderabad andLatifabad here on Wednesday on the call of Muttahida Quami Movement to mourn and protest the killings of its workersand supporters by the haqiqi terrorists in Karachi on Pakistan Day. The traffic on the roads was very thin in Hyderabad ,Latifabad, Haider Chowk, Qazi Abdul Qayyum Road and Unit No. 12 Latifabad. Strike was also observed in Kotri town while themain Shahi Bazaar in Tando Allahyar remained closed.
SUKKUR: All the bazaars, markets and shopping centres in Sukkur remained closedon Wednesday on call of the Muttahida Quami Movement . No untoward incident was reported from any part of the city.Political activists joined in Muttahida rallies. The processionists marched through the main roads and streets the city demandingimmediate arrest and stern action against the culprits.The ongoing examinations in schools and colleges were not disturbed.
MIRPURKHAS: Complete shut down marked the day of mourning in Mirpurkhas onWednesday. Business and other activities in all the major towns and cities of this district were brought to a standstill. Examination in the sub division Mirpurkhas were, however, held peacefully.
SANGHAR: Strike in this district observed completely and peacefully. Workers ofthe Muttahida Quami Movement organized protest rallies and Fateha Khwanis for those killed in Karachi on Monday andTuesday.
